This first article in the series Nostril Piercing, a comprehensive guide to everything related to piercing your nostril, discusses deciding on a nose piercing.
For some people, the question as to whether to get their nostril pierced is an easy, breezy, confident “Yes!” For other people the answer is an uncertain “I don’t know!” Others might not even get this far into the intellectual reasoning process. But, for those folks who do want to ponder their actions first, some easy steps can be taken to arrive at a nostril piercing decision. Asking lots of questions of oneself and of others, doing research on the internet, and a little bit of contemplating over time should help most people to decide whether they want a nostril piercing or not. Yes or No to Nostril Piercing? The decision to pierce a nostril is entirely up to the individual. There is no pat answer. There are some questions that can be asked to determine why a nostril piercing might be desirable.
Ask Friends and Coworkers for Their OpinionsAnother way of deciding is to talk with friends or coworkers, to glean their opinions of nostril piercing. Depending upon the friends, or work environment, some might even have piercings of their own. Friends’ and coworkers’ experiences and opinions could go a long way in helping to make a decision whether on whether to get a nostril piercing or not. Good Advice from Trusted PeopleFriends and/or coworkers can give great advice on how their nostril piercing feels, where to go to get a piercing, how to take care of a piercing, when to wear nose jewelry, and generally how confident and happy they are with their piercing. Is There an Age Limit for Nostril Piercing?Various states in the U.S. and countries abroad may have different age limits for body piercing, as the folks in the forum at www.bodyjewelryshop.com have found out. It is always a good idea to ask, when first contacting the studio where one is going to get the nostril piercing, if they have an age limit. Because a nostril piercing is something that has to be lived with, it would be advisable to wait until an older age, even maybe 21, before deciding on a piercing. Another advantage to waiting for a few years for a piercing is that the body will have stopped growing by that time. Parents and PiercingParents of children, please don’t pierce their nostrils. Their noses and they are still growing, and they may hate the piercing eventually. Better to let children make that decision when they are older. If any parents out there have an older child who went out and got a nostril piercing, it could be upsetting. Try not to freak out overly much. It’s not a tongue piercing, or other piercings that are not mentionable here. Try to accept your child’s piercing for what it is, just a tiny hole with a small piece of jewelry, nothing life ending.
